It seems that the Department of defense is cutting back on the production of tanks and other armored vehicles so that it can finance new high tech weapons systems designed for a lighter and more flexible army of the future. Which high tech weapons systems would be provided by Boeing and other defense contractors at significant profit.

Our current armor has significant problems with Improvised Explosive Devices and it seems that the vehicles which we supplied to The Republic of Georgia were just a wee bit inadequate in the face of Russian tanks.

Wonks Anonymous thinks that a war with Russia would be a very bad idea indeed.  A war with Russia without adequate armor transcends bad idea. It would make the invasion of Iraq seem to be a stroke of military genius.
