So Blue Shield has discovered that very many people in California are without health coverage and Blue Shield would like to have our elected officials do something about it. To facilitate this, Blue Shield has a fancy new web site, link above, with lots of pretty naked statues gliding across a well designed sterile background. All very nice.

Now Wonks Anonymous is all in favor of universal coverage. Doubters may peruse the Health Policy archive of this blog. Wonks Anonymous is also in favor of employing graphic designers who are generally fine and interesting folks, often hotties.  Somehow Wonks Anonymous doubts the sincerity of Blue Shield which is also one of the major proponents of High Deductible Health Insurance, see the post on catrostrophic health insurance here.

Blue Shield has also been a leader in 'risk selection' where an insurance company raises profits by avoiding sick people. They have taken this to new heights by revoking policies of people who have the misfortune to fall ill. All in all, not a pretty picture.

The Blue Shield site does offer you the opportunity to send a letter to Nancy Pelosi. Wonks Anonymous tried it but Blue Shield appears to have anticipated an attack by liberal trolls. There is no way to add your own thoughts and ideas to the form letter.
