Why You Should Vote

A recent debate appeared on a site that Wonks Anonymous spouse visits frequently the theme of the debate being "Don't vote, it only encourages them."

Now these words sound nice but we also should review the words of John McCain's strategist: “There are some new voters certainly voting, but those voters are on both sides,’’ he said. “In a state like Nevada, you have fewer new people voting than in 2004. A place like Iowa you have fewer young people voting than in 2004. The big thing that I look at is whether the composite of the electorate is changing, and I have not seen evidence of that. There have been a few data points that suggest it, but I haven’t seen full evidence of that yet.’’ Quoted in The Caucus Blog.

The man appears to be a bit worried about people who traditionally don't vote getting out there and voting. Possibly because he does not think that his guy will get those votes.

If you don't vote they just ignore you and pretend that you would have voted for them. Remember the "silent majority"? If you don't like Obama you can always vote for McKinney, Green Party, or even Nader, I Love Ralph Party. If enough people did that, Obama would have to start looking over his left shoulder instead of his right.

I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to vote. I love voting -- regardless of how I feel about the candidates.

Even if "my" candidate doesn't win, I'm sending a big "screw you" to the candidate that I vote against.
