Medicaid Reform

Because we know that for profit, private medical insurance is the best possible system in the world - and if it were not why would the glorious USA have adopted the system - we are taking steps to be sure that all health insurance in the US looks like for profit, private health insurance. The latest is that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have adopted new rules to allow the expansion of co-payments, premiums and coinsurance for Medicaid recipients:
Under the rule, the administration estimated, Medicaid recipients will pay more than $1.3 billion in co-payments over five years, and the federal government will save $1.4 billion, while states will save $1.1 billion. The savings would result not only from the collection of co-payments, but also from reduced use of services.
Meaning that a little less than half of the $2.5 billion in savings will be the results of people not using medical services.

Because we all know that medical care is like movies and if it were free people would be going to the doctor all the time. So if you raise the price you lower the number of useless doctor visits and save costs.

Besides, they can always go to church, or find a curandero or buy antibiotics on the gray market.
