Wonks Anonymous recalls that when the old Soviet Union was doing this sort of thing in the 1970's and 1980's our own government was very public in its disapproval. Wonks Anonymous notes that our government and press still worry vocally about the Russian Government's control of the media and its minor activities against dissidents.
