Can Someone Give These People A Clue?
President Obama - gee that sounds so good - has decided to restrict interrogation techniques to those listed in the Army interrogation manual. Probably a good thing since torture produces a great deal of unreliable evidence and tends to destroy the nation's reputation.
So the folks at NPR did a story on this on Friday's Morning Edition in which they never used the word torture. Everyone was all, extreme interrogation techniques. Of course they had to give both sides of the story including some Republican - congressman or senator I forget - worrying that we might be made less safe. Like Abu Ghraib saved even one soldier from getting blown up by an IED.
Could somebody tell these people that we have had a regime change. They no longer need to pussyfoot about for fear of angering Bush and Cheney and there is a perfectly good English word for extreme interrogation techniques. My people call it torture.
