Democracy For California
As some readers may have guessed the current California budget crises has thoroughly disgusted Wonks Anonymous. So much so that he called his state senator, Loni Hancock, to see if something could be done about it.
It turns out that Ms Hancock is trying to do something - to have the legislature pass a constitutional amendment to abolish the power of the minority to block all fiscal legislation. The amendment would then require voter approval.
Wouldn't it be nice if this thing could move quickly? Wouldn't it be nice if it could appear on the May special election ballot along with all of the various messy and silly propositions that are required to implement the current messy and silly state budget.
This would be SCA 5. If you live in California contact your representatives to support it. If you happen to be in the media, please do a story about it.
California needs democracy.
