The Folklore Of Capitalism
In 1997 Wonks Anonymous inherited the office library of Malcolm Gutter, a crusty old queen who taught Principles of Economics at Foothill College. Malcolm was retiring to devote himself the leisure and the collection of European Porcelain from the Ancien Regime.
Recently one of the books, The Folklore of Capitalism by Thurman Arnold, caught Wonks Anonymous eye. The book, published in 1937 at the height of the New Deal, is a biting and unfortunately still current critique of the political and economic superstitions of the United States.
The reading of which has considerably slowed down Wonks Anonymous blogging for the moment. He shall probably return refreshed in a few days. In the meantime The Folklore of Capitalism is available for sale on the web and for free at Google books.
