We Really Do Deserve It
A fine, public spirited citizens group has stepped in to fill the gap. Richard Procter reports in the Sf Comical:
PETA sent a letter to California State Parks Director Ruth Coleman on Wednesday offering to pay to keep Pescadero State Beach open, but only if it is renamed Sea Kitten State Beach.
. . .The term "sea kitten" is an effort to evoke the same sympathy for fish that people feel for cats and dogs, according to PETA Manager of Campaigns Lindsay Rajt.
"Pescadero means 'the place to fish,' so we thought by renaming it 'Sea Kitten State Beach' we could make it the place for fish instead of fishing," she said.
In the meantime fine public spirited "medicinal" pot vendors in Oakland have taken over some street cleaning and security duties in the neighborhood around the Paramount Theater. John Diaz reports on this in today's SF Comical. Unlike our other "entrepreneurs", who let out a chorus of whining every time someone even thinks about raising taxes, these guys are sponsoring an initiative designed to raise their business license fees.
Of course none of this would fly in the "Real America". There are consolations to life in California.
