Initiative Alert

Inspired no doubt by the successes of our Republican legislators the California Power company, PG&E has introduced a new initiative. David Baker of the SF Comical reports:

Under the measure, local governments that plan to start selling electricity would first need a two-thirds vote of approval from their residents if the plans required public financing.

Existing public-power utilities, such as the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, would need a two-thirds vote of approval before they could expand outside their current borders.

Which would mean that any changes to public utilities would require a 2/3 majority. Since the Republicans have repeatedly shown that you can fool about 1/3 of Californians all of the time this would leave PG&E without challenges.

PG&E wanted to call the initiative The Taxpayer Right To Vote Act. How about the Let's Paralyze Government And Protect Utility Weasels initiative?
