Which it appears lots of guys who left the priesthood in the 1970's had done, causing no end of scandal to the Church. So the word came down from on high: If you leave the priesthood we will hold you to your vows of chastity until you a too old to get it up.

The unfortunate side effect is that you will still be able to tell people that you are a priest and nobody who calls Rome to check up on you will be able to get a straight story.

Plenty of opportunities in the youth ministry. And none of the kids will be scandalized by the thought of a married former priest.
