How to report an error on WonksAnonymous and how we record corrections.

We want errors found and fixed. This page explains how to report one and what we do next.

How to report an error

Send a message through the Contact page. Please include:

  • The URL of the page.
  • The passage in question.
  • What is wrong.
  • A source, if you have one. A page URL and a clear description are enough to start.

What happens next

We check the report against the source and, where relevant, against our own calculations. If the error is confirmed, we fix it.

For any change that affects a number, formula, conclusion or attribution, we add a dated correction note at the end of the article. Typo and wording fixes are made without a note. We do not quietly change a conclusion. If new evidence moves one, the article says what changed and why.

If we decide a report is not an error, for example because it reflects a different assumption, we may reply to explain our reasoning.

Our broader standards are in the Editorial Policy.

This applies to the whole site, including policy pages like this one. If one of them says something inaccurate, tell us in the same way.
